ABOUT US
About The Matrescence Collective.
Mel and Teghan first met in 2015 as two twenty-somethings, beginning their nursing careers. 10 years and 5 children later, Mel and Teghan have discovered what sets their souls on fire. And so, The Matrescence Collective was born.
Throughout their own motherhood experiences, Mel and Teghan understand the importance of community during this transition, and the importance of investing in worthwhile services that have a positive and lasting impact on the future wellbeing of families.
"We want to see a shift in the way society views pregnancy, birth and postpartum care.”
MEL & TEGHAN - CO-FOUNDERS OF THE MATRESCENCE COLLECTIVE.
Meet our co-founders
Meet Teghan - wife, mother of three, emerging birth doula and has been a Registered nurse for 10 years.
Teghan is a wife, mother of three, emerging birth doula and has been a Registered nurse for 10 years. After becoming a mother, Teghan noticed a gap in community support. Over her years of growth and learning she has forged a passion for connecting families with the support they need.
Mel is a boy-mum, nurse and doula.
After having her own children, and experiencing the challenges of modern motherhood without a ‘village’, Mel developed a passion for supporting mothers and families through this extraordinary and vulnerable transition.
Mel works closely with families throughout their pregnancy, preparing them to make confident decisions for birth, nurtures postpartum mothers to get the rest and nourishment they need to recover, and assists with early attachment and positioning when breastfeeding.
Mel’s nursing experience has given her the knowledge and understanding to help families navigate their options for maternity care, so they can make calm and confident decisions for themselves and their baby.
